CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS MASTERY MISSION
A Breakthrough Follow-up Tool to Ensure Skill Acquisition and Mastery
Mastery Mission extends Crucial Conversations Training well beyond the classroom. Training graduates are invited continue their path to skill mastery by enrolling in this highly interactive on-line program. To begin the three levels of the Mastery Mission, participants must receive an email invitation from a Certified Trainer.
Mastery Mission is available for free to all graduates of Crucial Conversations Training who have received their own Participant Toolkit. However, they must receive an email invitation from a Certified Trainer in order to register for the program.

Mastery Mission Recognition
At the conclusion of each level, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion which they can send to their manager or HR department for recognition.
Those who complete the Mastery Mission are eligible to receive the Mastery Mission Award, which recognizes their accomplishment and serves as a reminder of the skills learned.
A single-user license is included in each Participant Materials Suite purchased from VitalSmarts. Participants must have their own copy of the Participant Toolkit to participate. Participants will be enrolled by a Certified Trainer or an authorized representative of the purchasing organization.

Q: Who can participate in the Crucial Conversations Mastery Mission?

Q: When should I begin Mastery Mission?
A: Participants should begin Mastery Mission within two weeks of completing Crucial Conversations Training.

Q: How long will it take to complete the Mastery Mission?
A: The Mastery Mission is designed to be completed over several sessions, with each session taking between 30-60 minutes to complete. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace. It is recommended you complete one of the seven skill reviews each week. We estimate most participants will take between 7-14 weeks to complete the Mastery Mission.

Q: How can I enroll for Mastery Mission?
A: The Certified Trainer who facilitated your class (or a representative from your organization) should trigger an email inviting you to enroll. This email contains a link to your unique registration web page. Follow the instruction in this email to enroll in Mastery Mission. (Note: Certified Trainers will need your first name, last name, and email address to send the email invitation).
As part of the registration process, you will be asked to do the following:
• Create a new VitalSmarts.com user account, or verify an existing account. This account is free
• Fill out a course evaluation and complete documentation requirements for Continuing Education Credits (where applicable).
It is possible the email may be blocked by a SPAM filter or network firewall. If you have not received the invitation email, please contact your trainer or an appropriate representative from your organization or the organization that sponsored the training.

Q: How do I know if I am enrolled for Mastery Mission?
A: On the left your My Zone page (you must be logged into VitalSmarts.com) is a red Mastery Mission link. This red link can take you to three different web pages:
• If you are successfully registered, this link will take you directly to Mastery Mission.
• If you have been invited but have not registered, the link will take you to the registration wizard.
• If you have not yet been invited to enroll, the link will take you to this FAQ page.
To resume the registration process, locate your invitation email and follow the link inside. If you are still unable to access Mastery Mission, please Email the VitalSmarts support team.

Q: Do I need to create a VitalSmarts.com user account before a Certified Trainer invites me to enroll in Mastery Mission??
A: No. When a Trainer invites you to enroll in Mastery Mission, an account is automatically created. The email address to which the invitation is sent becomes the username on your account.
If you already have an account with that email address, Mastery Mission access is simply added to your existing account. You should still register for Mastery Mission by clicking on the link in your invitation email.

Q: How do I access the Crucial Conversations Mastery Mission?
A: Mastery Mission is Web-based, so you can access it anytime from home or work. To enter the Mastery Mission for the first time, follow the link in the invitation email and complete the registration process. Once you are registered, return to the Mastery Mission by logging into VitalSmarts.com and following the red “Mastery Mission” link on the left of your “My Zone” page.

Q: Can I still enroll in Mastery Mission if I no longer have my Participant Toolkit?
A: Yes. As long as you received your own copy of the wire-bound Crucial Conversations Participant Toolkit at the time you attended the Training, you may enroll in Mastery Mission. You do not need to have your toolkit in hand to complete the registration process.

Q: Can I enroll in Mastery Mission if I never received a Participant Toolkit?
A: No. A Single User License for Mastery Mission is included with each Participant Toolkit. It is not sold separately. If you did not receive a Participant Toolkit at the time of Training, you may not have attended the full training course. Half day (or shorter) introductory workshops may include the New York Times bestselling book, Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High, but do not include access to Mastery Mission. If you attended the complete training without receiving a Participant Toolkit, you may not have attended a VitalSmarts sanctioned course.

Q: What is contained in the single-user license agreement?
A: The agreement verifies participants have completed Crucial Conversations Training, have received a Participant Toolkit, and have agreed to abide by the following:
• They will not allow others to use their Mastery Mission account.
• They will not share videos or other content in the Mastery Mission with individuals who have not completed Crucial Conversations Training.
• They will use the Mastery Mission in a team or group setting only if all individuals present have completed Crucial Conversations Training.
• They will not copy or distribute videos from the Mastery Mission.

Q: I haven’t received the invitation email, yet my Trainer said it was sent.
A: Sometimes SPAM filters or firewalls will block the Mastery Mission invitation. Please check your junk mail folder or talk to your IT department to verify that emails with the @vitalsmarts.com extension are being allowed into your system. If you cannot receive the email, follow the instructions in the next Q&A below to enroll in Mastery Mission.

Q: The registration link in the invitation email is broken.
A: If the registration link in your invitation is broken, you may still enroll in Mastery Mission by doing the following:
1. Click the Login button in the upper right-hand corner of VitalSmarts.com
2. Enter your username and password on the next screen
3. If you do not know your password, click Forgot My Password and enter your email address on the next page. If the system says an account does not exist at the email address you entered, your Trainer may have used a different email address to invite you, may have typed your email address incorrectly, or may not have sent the email invitation.
4. After logging into VitalSmarts.com, you will be on the My Zone Page. Click the red Mastery Mission link on the left side to begin the registration process.

Q: Mastery Mission is not loading or the video is not playing.
A: There are a few reasons the video may not be playing. Please check the following:
• Verify that you have Adobe Flash Player 8 (or higher) on your computer. If you do not have it, you may download it at www.adobe.com.
• Be sure you have a high bandwidth connection. (You may want to use the low bandwidth version, even if you are on a high bandwidth connection.)
• Some organizations have a network firewall in place to limit streaming video. Check with your IT department to see if they can adjust your network settings to allow you to participate in Mastery Mission.

Q: What is the Mastery Mission Award?
A: The Mastery Mission Award is an attractive symbol of accomplishment available to those who complete the Mastery Mission. It is intended to be displayed on participants’ desk and serves as a reminder of the specific skills learned in Crucial Conversations Training.

Q: How do graduates of Mastery Mission receive the Award?
A: Those who complete the Mastery Mission may receive the Award in one of the following ways:
• If they attend a VitalSmarts-sponsored 2-Day Public Workshop after August 15, 2006, they will receive a voucher for a free Award that is redeemable online once Mastery Mission has been completed. Allow 2-4 weeks for the Award to arrive.
• If they were trained by a Certified Trainer inside their own organization, their organization may have purchased the Award for them. They should see their Training or HR Department to redeem the Award.
• If their organization has elected not to purchase the Award, they will have the option to purchase the award directly from VitalSmarts for $15 plus shipping and handling.

Q: How do I receive my Certificate for completing Continuing Education Credits?
A: If the trainer who facilitated your class is certified to teach for Continuing Education Credits, you will receive your Continuing Education Certificate as part of the Mastery Mission registration process. As you register, you will be prompted to complete the required forms and will be sent an email containing your certificate. Note: You must register within one week of completing the training course to receive your Continuing Education Certificate.

Q: If I completed the training course in the past, can I receive continuing education credit for the course now?
A: No. Continuing education credit can only be granted at the time the course is completed (see above question). If you would like to receive Continuing Education credit, you will have to repeat the course.

Q: Does Mastery Mission have a high and low bandwidth version?
A: Yes. Once you have entered Mastery Mission, you may choose to use either the low or high bandwidth version by selecting your desired video quality in the upper right-hand corner.

Q: Can I participate in Mastery Mission if I do not have speakers for my computer?
A: Yes. Pressing the “Read” button in the upper right-hand corner of Mastery Mission will allow you to read along with the audio presentation. Some participants prefer to read the instructions or use this feature when they do not want to disturb others around them.
